Law enforcement recently arrested a Camden NJ man accused of fatally stabbing another person at a local apartment complex.
The arrest was made a short time before 5:00 a.m. at the Ablett Village Apartments, which are located in the heart of Camden, New Jersey. The Camden County Police Department sent police officers to the area after receiving an unrelated call about a child custody dispute. When the Camden County cops got to the apartment building, they heard commotion coming from the second floor.
The police officers went to the second floor to investigate and found a man suffering from a stab wound. The injured resident was rushed via ambulance to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ. Doctors at the medical facility treated the victim for a stab wound to his chest, but they could not save his life. The victim was pronounced dead approximately two hours after arriving at the hospital. At the time of his death, the victim was just 27 years old.
Meanwhile, law enforcement apprehended the suspect as he allegedly tried to run from the apartment. Camden County NJ police placed the suspect under arrest without any further injuries.
The suspect is a 33-year-old who lives in Camden NJ and is believed to be a resident of the Ablett Village Apartments. He faces criminal charges for first degree murder, which carries a potential punishment of life imprisonment in New Jersey State Prison.
At this time, it is unclear if police recovered a murder weapon at the scene of the killing. What is known is that this is the 38th homicide so far this year in Camden, New Jersey.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Camden County Jail. He was being held at the correctional facility on a massive $1 million bail amount.
