A Camden NJ man is headed to prison after he pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a juvenile.
The suspect is a 59-year-old resident of Camden, New Jersey. He was arrested and charged with sexual assault after detectives with the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office determined that he committed the sex crime on May 1, 2012.
According to law enforcement, the suspect sexually assaulted a minor victim who was under the age of 15. The sex crime occurred at a residence in East Greenwich Township, which is why the suspect was criminally charged by Gloucester County authorities.
The suspect eventually reached a plea deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to second degree sexual assault charges.
The suspect has now been formally sentenced in the sex crime case. The Gloucester County Superior Court judge approved the plea agreement and sentenced the suspect to a term of incarceration of five years in New Jersey State Prison.
In addition to serving time behind bars, the suspect will also be subject to Megan’s Law after he completes his sentence and is released from prison. This means that he will have to report himself as a convicted sex offender and will remain on parole for a minimum of 15 years.
