A woman from Woodlynne, Latasha Baker, has been sentenced to 45 years in New Jersey State Prison for felony murder, robbery, and conspiracy.
The conviction stems from a 2009 incident where Baker and three other suspects, two of which are Baker’s brothers, allegedly killed a bakery owner in Woodlynne. Evidence presented by the prosecution suggested that Baker was the lookout for the robbery and that she had scouted the bakery throughout the day of the crime, posing as a customer and informing the other suspects of who was in the store. The owner was shot after the suspects entered and attempted to open the register.
The crimes that Baker has been convicted of are included under New Jersey’s “No Early Release Act” meaning that she will have to serve 85 percent of her sentence before she can be eligible for parole.
