Two people were shot and wounded at a Winslow apartment complex near 2 a.m. on Friday.
Police responded to the incident on New Brooklyn-Erial Road where they proceeded to find the first victim in an apartment on the fourth floor suffering from two gunshot wounds. This victim was flown over to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. The second victim was found soon after while the police were securing the scene. This person was then taken to Virtua Hospital suffering from one gunshot wound. Police are asking that anyone with information related to the incident contact them immediately while they are investigating.
If the suspect(s) are apprehended by police, the person could be charged with second degree aggravated assault along with several other weapons charges. If one or both of the victims die, the charges could be upgraded to homicide. A conviction for second degree aggravated assault carries a lengthy sentence of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison. Further, since this crime is included under the No Early Release Act, 85 percent of the sentence would have to be served before parole eligibility.
