Robert Norman, a man from Millville has been found guilty of attempted murder and sexual assault among several other charges.
The conviction is the result of an incident that took place in 2011 where Norman stabbed a woman several times after threatening her with the knife and sexually assaulting her. Although she was stabbed multiple times, the victim managed to call for help and was transported to Cooper University Hospital. The police managed to find Norman using DNA evidence that connected him to the assault.
Altogether, Norman was charged with first-degree attempted murder, three counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, third-degree criminal restraint and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. Norman was sentenced to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison. Further, several of these crimes are part of the No Early Release Act meaning that 85 percent of his sentence must be served before he will be eligible for parole.
