A man from Voorhees was arrested in Pennsylvania after a road rage incident that occurred late last week.
The incident took place near the Summit Square Shopping Center early in the morning that day when both parties were stopped at a red light. The defendant allegedly exited his car, jumped onto the victims truck, and repeatedly harassed him. After this, the victim proceeded to get out of his vehicle and the two men got into a fight. The defendant allegedly punched the victim several times in the head. Following the fight, both men drove away in their cars but were both stopped by the police on Interstate 95. The victim was then taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.
The defendant was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and disorderly conduct in connection to the incident. The degree of aggravated assault a person is charged with can vary depending on the surrounding circumstances. In this case, the defendant will likely be charged in the third degree since there were not any weapons involved and the injuries sustained by the victim were not too serious or life threatening. A conviction for this crime can result in 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison as well as a maximum fine of $15,000.
