Gloucester Township police are looking for a man suspected of bank fraud.
According to police, a man deposited a fake check into a bank account; he later used a debit card belonging to the actual account holder.
The suspect allegedly used the debit card several times over a five-day period. He reportedly withdrew funds from an ATM machine and made multiple purchases at various stores. It is believed that the transactions totaled more than $1,800.
Authorities are currently trying to identify the suspect. They have released a description of the man: he is described as a black male with a thin to medium build. Photographs taken by the ATM camera showed the suspect wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers.
As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4, theft by deception may be classified as a third degree criminal offense if the value of the property or cash taken is greater than $500. In this case, the suspect could be sentenced to between three and five years in NJ State Prison if he is apprehended and convicted.
