A Lindenwold NJ man was sentenced to 45 years in New Jersey State Prison for sexually assaulting his daughter and his stepdaughter for a period lasting more than four years.
According to prosecutors, the 50-year-old defendant kept the women imprisoned in their home and did not allow them any exposure to the outside world. Prosecutors described the setting as a “den of horrors.”
The suspect reportedly committed sexual violence against the victims between 2007 and 2011, when the daughter was a teenager and the stepdaughter was in her early 30s.
The victims eventually escaped and reported the abuse to local police.
Police investigated the allegations and arrested the suspect. He was then charged with sexual assault and kidnapping; he was later convicted of both charges.
The defendant’s daughter appeared in Camden County Superior Court during sentencing proceedings and asked the judge to impose the maximum sentence in the case. She told the judge that he should not show any mercy when sentencing her father.
The judge ultimately elected to sentence the defendant to 45 years in New Jersey State Prison.
