Cherry Hill NJ police arrested a Camden man who was allegedly in possession of several hundred pounds of marijuana.
Cherry Hill traffic cops were called to a local storage facility after receiving a report of suspicious activity. The police officers then allegedly observed the 57-year-old suspect as he loaded multiple boxes into his vehicle.
Shortly after the suspect tried to drive away from the storage facility, the police officers pulled over the suspect’s vehicle.
The officers then enlisted the help of Mika, the K-9 of the Cherry Hill Police Department. The dog sniffed around the vehicle and reportedly signaled the presence of a narcotic.
Police impounded the car and later obtained a search warrant. A subsequent search of the suspect’s car allegedly turned up 100 pounds of marijuana. According to police, the marijuana had been placed in the trunk of the vehicle.
Police also searched the storage unit and reportedly discovered another 150 pounds of pot in a wooden crate. According to authorities, the pot has an estimated street value of approximately $500,000. Police believe that the pot was probably going to be sold in Camden, NJ.
After being placed under arrest, the suspect was charged with first degree distribution of marijuana. According to police, the suspect already had a warrant out for his arrest when he was stopped by police.
The suspect was transported to the Camden County jail, where he was being held on $250,000 bail.
