Police in Camden NJ are investigating the shooting death of a man earlier this month.
According to authorities, the 35-year-old victim was shot multiple times while walking on the 1000 block of Division Street in Camden, New Jersey. The shooting reportedly occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. on January 3.
The victim, who reportedly lived in Camden, was taken to nearby Cooper University Hospital. Although the victim received treatment at the medical facility, doctors were ultimately unable to save him. The victim passed away approximately three weeks after being shot.
The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident. However, no arrests have been made at this time.
If investigators are eventually able to identify a suspect in the case, homicide charges would likely follow. First degree murder is the most serious offense in the New Jersey Criminal Code. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, anyone convicted of first degree murder in the State of New Jersey is subject to a potential life sentence in NJ State Prison. Moreover, the minimum sentence for a first degree murder conviction is 30 years.
