Lindenwold NJ police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to commit a sexual assault.
According to law enforcement, the attempted sexual assault occurred at the Arborwood Condominiums last month. The apartment complex is located near Gibbsboro Road in Lindenwold, New Jersey.
The victim is a 14-year-old girl who told police that she was approached by the suspect during the afternoon. The suspect reportedly tried to sexually assault the teen; however, she was able to fight him off and run home without being harmed.
The Lindenwold Police Department is still actively investigating the alleged sex crime. Police recently released a composite sketch of the suspect in the sexual assault.
Police also released a detailed description of the suspect. He is described as a black male between the ages of 18 and 20. He reportedly stands 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs between 160 pounds and 180 pounds. The victim told police that the suspect has black hair and brown eyes. At the time of the attack, he wore a black t-shirt and blue jeans.
If the suspect is eventually identified and apprehended, he would likely face serious criminal charges and significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2, anyone who uses physical force or coercion to commit an act of sexual penetration can be charged with a second degree felony. A conviction for second degree sexual assault could lead to a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
