Haddonfield NJ police are trying to find a man accused of committing a sex crime and flashing a young girl.
According to law enforcement, the 17-year-old victim was walking along the 100 block of West End Avenue in Haddonfield when a white SUV drove past her. The vehicle reportedly pulled up to the side of the road immediately next to the teenage girl.
The driver of the car asked the victim to move closer so that she could provide him with directions. When the victim approached the SUV, she noticed that the driver had unzipped his pants.
Afterwards, the suspect allegedly drove away from the area and headed toward Kings Highway. Meanwhile, the victim went to her house and notified Haddonfield NJ police.
Haddonfield police officers arrived at the scene a short time later and canvassed the area in search of the suspect.
Haddonfield investigators recently released a general description of the suspect. According to the witness, the suspect is a white male in his 20s and has short, blonde hair.
If police can eventually identify and apprehend the suspect, he would probably face criminal charges for lewdness. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-4, public lewdness is typically classified as a fourth degree crime. A conviction on fourth degree lewdness charges could lead to a sentence of up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison.
The Haddonfield Police Department has asked for the public’s help in identifying and finding the suspect. Anyone who has information about the alleged sexual offense or the suspect should call Haddonfield NJ detectives at 856-429-4700.
