A Runnemede NJ man has been charged with murdering his infant daughter more than a decade ago in Michigan.
The suspect is a 33-year-old man who has been living in Runnemede, New Jersey. He was convicted of committing child abuse 13 years ago and actually spent three years in a Michigan prison after being convicted.
In August 2002, the suspect dropped his child, who was just eight months old at the time. When the infant hit the ground outside their home in Lansing, Michigan, she suffered permanent brain damage. The traumatic brain injuries left the victim incapable of walking or talking. She was also unable to feed herself or even swallow food.
Now the suspect could spend the rest of his life behind bars after the victim of his abuse died as a result of her injuries. The victim died in November 2015. An autopsy performed by Michigan medical examiners concluded that the girl died because of “circumstances related to the child abuse case.”
The suspect was recently extradited from his home in Camden County NJ to Michigan, where he will face charges of first degree murder.
If the suspect is convicted on the murder charges, he will be subject to life imprisonment in Michigan. The penalties for first degree murder in Michigan are just as severe as the penalties in New Jersey, where a murder conviction can also result in life imprisonment.
