Law enforcement is searching for a suspect in the robbery of a TD Bank in Bellmawr, New Jersey.
According to Camden County prosecutors, the suspect walked into the TD Bank located on Black Horse Pike in Bellmawr NJ and approached a bank teller. The theft incident reportedly occurred around 1:30 pm.
Once the suspect was inside the bank, he allegedly handed the bank teller a note demanding cash. The bank employee then reportedly gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash.
With the cash in hand, the suspect allegedly ran out of the bank and fled the area on foot.
At no point during the incident did the alleged bank robber flash a weapon of any kind.
The Bellmawr Police Department was notified of the robbery shortly after the suspect left the bank. Police officers conducted an investigation and searched the area, unsuccessfully, for the suspect.
Police recently released a description of the suspect in the hopes that it will lead to a break in the case. The suspect has been described as a man standing 5-feet-5-inches tall. He reportedly has a beard and is bald.
If the suspect is eventually identified and arrested, he would face significant criminal penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1, robbery is typically classified as a second degree felony. A conviction for second degree robbery could lead to a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
