Police are searching for two suspects accused of stealing a number of DVD players from a Walmart store in Berlin Township, New Jersey.
According to law enforcement, the two suspects walked into the Walmart sometime after midnight. Once inside the store, the suspects grabbed several DVD players.
The suspects then allegedly walked out of the Walmart without paying for the DVD players.
The stolen DVD players had a retail value of more than $200.
Witnesses saw the suspects get into a red Ford pickup truck that was parked outside the store. According to witnesses, the truck was driven by a third person.
Berlin NJ police were called to the scene to investigate the alleged theft. Police officers were able to obtain store surveillance video footage that features the suspects.
Police recently released descriptions of the alleged shoplifters. Both suspects are described as white males with short hair. One of them was reportedly wearing a tan jacket with a black hoodie underneath; the other suspect reportedly wore a dark blue or black jacket and dark-colored pants.
Investigators believe that at least one of the suspects might be from Monroe Township, NJ.
If police are eventually able to apprehend the suspects, significant criminal charges could follow. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:20-11b, anyone who purposely steals merchandise valued at more than $200 can be charged with fourth degree shoplifting. A conviction on fourth degree theft charges could result in a sentence of up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison.
