Camden County police recently arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting and then trying to murder a woman on a city street.
According to law enforcement, the suspect violently assaulted the victim a week ago on the 900 block of South 3rd Street in Camden, New Jersey. The suspect allegedly abducted the female victim and then took her to an abandoned lot in Camden, where he reportedly committed the sex crime.
The suspect is a 29-year-old man who resides in Willingboro, NJ. Camden County detectives were able to identify the suspect as the possible culprit after matching his description to a composite sketch based on information provided by the victim. Authorities released the sketch to the public, which resulted in anonymous tips linking the suspect to the crime.
Willingboro police officers and Camden County police officers later executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Willingboro, New Jersey. While the cops were at the house, the suspect came home. He then allegedly used a knife to attack the officers, but he was quickly subdued and placed under arrest.
The suspect faces countless criminal charges, including attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, kidnapping, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Camden County Jail in Camden NJ. He was being held there on a massive bail amount of $2 million.
