Camden County police are investigating the recent shooting death of a man at an apartment complex in Camden, NJ.
The Camden County Police Department received a report of a shooting shortly after midnight. The gunshots were heard at the Ablett Village apartments in Camden, New Jersey.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the 30-year-old victim lying on the floor inside his apartment. The victim was unconscious when police discovered him.
Emergency medical responders also arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
Camden County NJ police are actively investigating the killing. At this time, investigators have yet to identify a suspect or a motive for the shooting.
If police do eventually identify and apprehend the culprit, it is likely that criminal charges for murder would follow. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is the most serious criminal offense in the New Jersey Criminal Code. A conviction on first degree murder charges could result in life imprisonment, with a minimum mandatory term of incarceration of 30 years.
