Camden County Police Investigate Shooting of Eight-Year-Old Girl

Camden NJ Aggravated Assault AttorneysCamden County police are focused on capturing the suspects behind a recent shooting that seriously injured an eight-year-old girl in Camden, NJ.

The violent incident occurred during the late-night hours near the intersection of South 8th Street and Spruce Street in Camden, New Jersey. Multiple people reportedly drove through the intersection and used handguns to fire numerous gunshots at an “intended target.” Instead of hitting their target, however, the suspects struck the little girl.

At the time of the shooting, the victim was playing on the sidewalk. She sustained significant injuries, including potentially catastrophic head wounds. Afterwards, the young girl was rushed to nearby Cooper University Hospital and treated for her injuries. She was later listed in extremely critical condition.

Meanwhile, the suspects in the shooting reportedly drove off and were last seen traveling on South 9th Street in Camden, NJ.

Detectives with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the shooting, which investigators currently believe may have been a gang-related shooting. Additionally, the chief of the Camden County Police Department said that his cops intend to have “laser light” focus when it comes to identifying and apprehending the suspects responsible for the violent crime. Moreover, the Camden police chief spoke with the mother of the victim and said that his department’s resources would be devoted to ensuring that the suspects are apprehended and brought to justice for their crime.

The Camden County Police Department has also announced that anyone providing information resulting in the arrest of the suspects will be eligible for a $5,000 reward.

Anyone who has information about the suspects or the shooting is asked to contact Camden County detectives at 856-225-8623 or 856-757-7420.
