Camden County Police Looking for Man Who Allegedly Robbed Camden Dollar Store

Camden NJ Shoplifting SuspectPolice in Camden New Jersey are searching for a man accused of committing a violent robbery at a local store.

In May, the Camden County Police Department received a report of a strong-arm robbery at the Family Dollar store located on 323 Marlton Pike in Camden, NJ. Store workers contacted police to alert them to a suspect who had stolen merchandise.

After being notified of the theft, the police department dispatched police officers to the store. When police officers got to the scene, they spoke with store personnel about the incident. According to witnesses, the suspect entered the store and tried to hide several items in his jacket. A store employee confronted the suspect and asked him about the items that he had placed into his coat. At that point, the suspect allegedly shoved the worker and then ran out of the building.

The Camden County Police Department has been actively investigating the robbery since it happened. Now the police department has released images taken from surveillance video footage at the Family Dollar store.

The suspect is described as a black male who stands 5-feet-8-inches tall. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a blue and gold Notre Dame hooded jacket, with a blue jacket on top of that one. The suspect also wore a black cap, blue jeans, and white sneakers.

If the suspect is eventually identified and apprehended, he would face severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1, a shoplifting offense becomes a robbery offense when the suspect inflicts bodily injury or uses force during the commission of the theft. Since robbery is typically classified as a second degree felony, the suspect could be looking at a sentence of 5-10 years in NJ State Prison.

Anyone who has information about the robbery or the suspect should contact the Camden County Police Department by calling the department’s anonymous tip line at 856-757-7042.
