Camden County police recently arrested two men believed to be connected to the shooting death of a local resident of Camden, New Jersey.
The fatal shooting happened a short time after 11:00 p.m. on September 2, 2013. According to Camden County prosecutors, one of the suspects shot and killed a 29-year-old man in the parking lot of a laundromat located on the 3100 block of Westfield Avenue in Camden, NJ.
The other suspect allegedly gave the shooter information about the victim’s location prior to the killing.
The main suspect, a 25-year-old male, was apprehended at his home in Camden NJ, where members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service Regional Fugitive Task Force placed him under arrest.
The other suspect was captured by police during a traffic stop in Camden, New Jersey. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
The main suspect faces first degree murder charges. If he is convicted on the homicide charges, he would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is the most serious crime in the New Jersey Criminal Code. A conviction for first degree murder could result in a mandatory minimum term of incarceration of 30 years, with the potential for life imprisonment.
The main suspect in the 2013 murder is currently being held at the Camden County Jail in lieu of a massive $1.5 million bail amount.
