Police in Cherry Hill New Jersey are looking for a male suspect accused of firing a handgun into the air during a heated argument.
Cherry Hill Township police were called to Cooper Landing Apartments after receiving a report of gunshots being fired during the early morning hours.
Police officers investigated the incident and learned that a male and a female had been arguing while seating inside a vehicle. According to authorities, the vehicle was in the parking lot of the apartment complex’s A building.
Police believe that the male suspect had a handgun. At some point, he allegedly got out of the car and fired a number of gunshots into the air.
Shortly after the shooting, the female reportedly drove off in a blue Honda.
Thankfully, there were no injuries or property damage as a result of the shooting.
Cherry Hill police are actively investigating the incident. Investigators obtained surveillance video footage from the parking lot showing the male suspect firing the rounds into the air.
The suspect has been described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male in his early 20s. He stands roughly 5 feet 9 inches tall and has braided hair, a light mustache, and a thin beard.
The surveillance footage shows the suspect wearing a baseball-style cap, a grey hoodie, grey sweatpants, and sneakers.
If police are eventually able to identify the suspect, he could face a number of criminal charges. Depending upon the precise circumstances of the shooting, the suspect could be charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
