Paulino Bonds from Clementon has been sentenced to 7 years in New Jersey State Prison as a result of his plea deal for robbery.
The robbery occurred in 2012 just one year after Bonds had been released from prison for aggravated assault. This along with another previous conviction for a weapons offense led the judge to sentence him to 7 years because this pattern showed a likelihood of recidivism. Further, tattoos on Bonds suggested that he might be involved with one or more criminal gangs, including the Bloods.
Bonds also refused to give employment and family history information for his pre-sentence report because, according to his attorney, he was afraid of retaliation against his family. When asked about the robbery, Bonds claimed he did it in connection to a kidney ailment that he thought had gotten worse during his time in prison. The charges against him are included under the No Early Release Act meaning that 85 percent of his sentence must be served before he is eligible for parole.
