Authorities have ruled that the death of a Camden New Jersey man at a local trucking company was a homicide.
The death occurred in February at the River Road Trucking Company on the 1700 block of River Road in Camden, New Jersey.
Camden NJ police received a report of an unconscious male bleeding from his mouth during the early morning hours. When police officers got to the scene, they found the 66-year-old victim sitting in a reclining chair inside the business. The victim was an employee at the trucking company.
The victim was immediately taken to Cooper University Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save him; he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Medical examiners conducted an autopsy on the victim’s body and determined that the cause of his death was blunt force trauma to the head.
As a result of the autopsy results, Camden County police are currently investigating the case as a homicide. The investigation is active and ongoing. However, police have yet to make any arrests in the case.
If police are eventually able to identify and capture a suspect, severe criminal charges would likely follow. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, first degree murder is the most serious crime in the New Jersey Criminal Code. A conviction on first degree murder charges could result in a life sentence in NJ State Prison. The minimum penalty is a sentence of 30 years in state prison.
The Camden County Police Department has asked members of the public with information about the killing to contact detectives at 856-365-3114.
