Prosecutors have now charged five people in connection with the brutal murder of a Camden County woman in Trenton, New Jersey.
The fatal shooting occurred during a robbery attempt gone wrong in November 2016. According to Mercer County prosecutors, the victim drove one of her killers to East Trenton NJ on the night that she was killed. The man had hailed the victim through Lyft, the popular rideshare service that is similar to Uber.
When the vehicle arrived in a Trenton NJ neighborhood, the robbers allegedly tried to steal money from another passenger. Something reportedly went wrong during the theft attempt and a handgun was discharged.
Law enforcement investigated the fatal shooting and initially identified four suspects: a 43-year-old Trenton man, a 39-year-old Trenton NJ man, a 31-year-old Hamilton NJ woman, and a 32-year-old Pennsylvania resident. The four suspects were later indicted on multiple charges, including first degree murder, armed robbery, and weapons offenses.
Now a fifth person has been charged with murder in the case. That suspect is a 52-year-old man from Trenton, NJ. He was already in police custody at the Camden County Jail when he was officially charged with first degree murder for the Mercer County killing.
