Police recently arrested a Gloucester Township NJ man accused of possessing child pornography at his residence.
Law enforcement received a tip about the 33-year-old suspect and opened an investigation. Members of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit eventually executed a search warrant and raided the suspect’s home on the 600 block of Black Horse Pike in Gloucester Township, New Jersey. The suspect’s residence is located in the Glendora area of the township.
During a search of the suspect’s house, police reportedly seized several digital media devices, including laptop computers. The computers allegedly contained numerous images of children engaged in sexual acts.
Additionally, Camden County authorities also reportedly came across illegal controlled dangerous substances (CDS) at the Gloucester Township residence.
The suspect now faces multiple criminal charges for sex crimes, including distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography. The suspect also faces drug crime charges for unlawful possession of a CDS.
In New Jersey, distribution of child pornography is classified as a second degree felony. This means that the suspect could potentially be sentenced to as many as 10 years behind bars if he is ultimately convicted on the most serious criminal charges. Additionally, a sex crime conviction can result in lifetime requirements to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was taken to the Camden County Jail in Camden, NJ. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of $100,000 bail, with no 10-percent cash option for posting bail.
