A middle school teacher in Gloucester Township NJ faces sex crime charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a student.
According to Camden County prosecutors, the suspect sexually assaulted a female student who was under the age of 13. The suspect is a teacher at Ann Mullen Middle School in Gloucester Township, New Jersey.
After school officials became aware of the sexual offense allegations, they notified the Gloucester Township Police Department. Gloucester Township NJ police and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office then began a joint investigation into the suspect.
As soon as the allegations were made against the suspect, the school district immediately removed the suspect from his classroom and suspended him. He was also banned from school grounds.
The suspect, who is 65 years old and resides in Sicklerville NJ, faces criminal charges for multiple sexual offenses, including second degree sexual assault and third degree endangering the welfare of a child.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted of sexual assault, he would be subject to significant penalties. A conviction for second degree sexual assault of a minor could lead to a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison. On top of that, the suspect would potentially be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
