Gloucester Township police arrested a man who allegedly had heroin in his possession.
Police officers were called to the Autumn Ridge apartments in Gloucester Township, New Jersey. Gloucester Township police had received a report that a man at the complex had a gun.
When the officers got to the scene, witnesses told them that the suspect fled on foot; he reportedly ran towards the woods near C.W. Lewis Middle School.
Officers investigated and saw a man who matched descriptions given by witnesses. When an officer approached the man on Little Gloucester Road, the man reportedly began to run away.
Officers chased the suspect and quickly captured him.
During a subsequent search of the 23-year-old suspect, officers allegedly found him with several bags of heroin. However, officers did not find him in possession of any firearms.
Police later learned that the suspect allegedly tried to break into an apartment. The suspect was reportedly in possession of a knife during this incident. According to witnesses, the suspect had been peering into windows at the apartment complex and then texting explicit pictures.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with a number of criminal offenses, including possession of heroin, resisting arrest, stalking, and terroristic threats. The suspect has also been accused of violating a restraining order.
After the suspect was taken into custody by police, he was transported to a local hospital so that he could receive medical treatment for minor injuries sustained during the chase.
