Police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of a Lindenwold apartment building.
According to law enforcement, the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the Woodland Village apartment complex in Lindenwold, New Jersey. The shooting happened during the early morning hours.
The Lindenwold Police Department received a call about gunshots being fired in the area of the 400 block of East Gibbsboro Road in Lindenwold NJ. When police arrived at the scene, they saw the victim.
The victim, a 34-year-old man who lives in Lindenwold, sustained a gunshot wound as a result of the incident.
Emergency medical responders rushed the victim to Cooper University Hospital in Camden NJ, where he received medical treatment for his injuries. He was later listed in critical condition.
Lindenwold police are actively investigating the shooting. Witnesses told police that they saw a man running from the scene of the shooting. The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a black shirt with long white sleeves. He also had a black hat on his head.
If police are able to identify and apprehend the suspect, he would face severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b), aggravated assault that involves a person purposefully or knowingly causing serious bodily injury to someone else can be classified as a second degree felony. A conviction for second degree aggravated assault could lead to a sentence of 5-10 years in NJ State Prison.
