Police in Voorhees Township are searching for a man accused of committing several shoplifting offenses in the area.
The most recent theft occurred at the Acme in Eagle Plaza, which is located on Haddonfield-Berlin Road in Voorhees, New Jersey.
The suspect allegedly stole a case of Red Bull from the store. Investigators believe that this is not the first time the suspect committed shoplifting in Voorhees; he allegedly stole from at least four other Voorhees businesses in recent months.
After Acme store employees noticed the Red Bull theft, they contacted local law enforcement. Voorhees police officers arrived at the scene a short time later and conducted an investigation.
Police obtained surveillance footage that reportedly shows the suspect committing the shoplifting offense at the Acme store. The surveillance images have been posted on the Voorhees Police Department’s Facebook page.
Police also released a description of the suspect. When he committed the most recent theft, he was reportedly wearing a black t-shirt, long shorts, and a black-and-white patterned hat.
At this time, police have yet to identify the shoplifting suspect.
If the suspect is eventually identified and located, he could face severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:20-11(b), shoplifting can be classified as a third degree felony if the retail value of the stolen items is greater than $500. A conviction for third degree shoplifting could result in a sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
Now the Voorhees Township Police Department has asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the alleged shoplifter. Anyone with information about the suspect, or the alleged thefts, can call investigators at 856-627-7174.
