Gloucester City NJ police arrested a man who was allegedly masturbating in a car parked in a local store parking lot.
The incident occurred at night. The Gloucester City Police Department received a report of a man committing a lewd act while sitting in his motor vehicle. When police officers arrived at the parking lot of a local CVS, they allegedly discovered the suspect in the process of masturbating while using a handheld device.
According to law enforcement, the suspect was in full view of anyone who happened to walk past on the street.
The suspect, a 38-year-old man from National Park NJ, was taken out of his vehicle and placed under arrest.
When police later conducted a search of the car, they allegedly found four shotguns.
The suspect has been charged with multiple crimes, including lewdness and unlawful possession of a weapon.
If the suspect is convicted on the most serious charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, he faces severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5, anyone who illegally possesses a rifle or a shotgun can be charged with a third degree felony. A conviction for third degree illegal possession of a shotgun could result in a sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was transported to the Camden County Jail. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of bail.
