A man who had been convicted in connection with a major drug trafficking ring in Camden NJ is headed to prison after being sentenced by a US District Court judge.
According to authorities, the drug distribution operation involved at least seven people who sold more than 2,300 grams of cocaine base, 675 grams of cocaine, and 926 grams of heroin over a 14-month period from January 2012 to April 2013.
Camden County law enforcement and federal authorities opened a joint investigation into the drug ring after receiving reports of illegal drug activity in Camden, NJ. Detectives with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office focused their investigation on the suspects and relied on a variety of techniques, including surveillance, telephone wiretaps, confidential informants, and controlled drug purchases from undercover police officers.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Camden NJ police arrested seven people, including the suspect who was recently sentenced to prison time for his involvement with the drug trafficking network.
The suspect, a 26-year-old man, allegedly took the cocaine and heroin packaged by his co-conspirators and sold the drugs near the intersection of 8th Street and Tulip Street in Camden, New Jersey. He was charged with numerous federal crimes, including cocaine distribution and heroin distribution.
Now the suspect has been sentenced to more than 12 years in a federal penitentiary. Additionally, the suspect will be subject to five years of supervised release and parole requirements when he completes his prison term.
