A woman from Voorhees was stabbed on Sunday by her husband’s girlfriend at a Wawa in Runnemede.
The woman had suspected that her husband was seeing another woman from New York. She used an app on her phone to track him to the Wawa where she discovered another woman in his car. A fight between the two woman ensued which resulted in the girlfriend stabbing the wife. As the fight eventually moved into the store, the husband tried to break it up which led to him also getting stabbed. Both were treated at the hospital afterwards.
As of right now, reports say that the police plan on charging both women with assault. The severity of the penalties involve depend on what type of assault they are charged with. Second degree aggravated assault is punishable by up to 10 years in New Jersey State prison and there is a presumption of imprisonment even for first time offenders. Third degree aggravated assault, on the other hand, is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and there is a presumption of non-incarceration for first time offenders. Usually when there is a weapon involved, a defendant will be facing second degree aggravated assault charges.
