Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of a Trenton woman, whose body was found in Tabernacle, New Jersey.
According to State Police, the body of 47-year-old Trenton resident Lisa Armstrong was found in the woods along Route 206 in Tabernacle on October 8, 2013 with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Police had previously arrested Terrance Patterson, 37, in connection with the case. However, authorities believed that Patterson may have had an accomplice with whom he robbed and murdered Armstrong.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, police recently arrested Loraine Hawkins, 47, who is now charged her with felony murder, robbery, and kidnapping. Hawkins was the victim’s former Narcotics Anonymous sponsor, according to reports.
Hawkins, who is being held at the Burlington County Jail in default of a $500,000 bail, could be subject to very serious penalties if she is ultimately convicted of these crimes. For example, kidnapping alone, which is detailed in N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1, is typically a first or second degree crime. A conviction for first degree kidnapping would result in a term of up to 20 years in New Jersey state prison, while a second degree kidnapping conviction carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.
