Police recently captured a man who allegedly shot a Camden County police officer in Camden, New Jersey.
The officer was reportedly shot while sitting in his patrol vehicle on Kenwood Avenue in Camden, NJ. The suspect allegedly fired multiple rounds from a handgun and hit the police officer in the arm.
The victim was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, where he got medical treatment for his injuries.
After the shooting, law enforcement worked around the clock to investigate the case and locate the 21-year-old suspect. Police eventually found him at an apartment located on the 200 block of Haddon Avenue in Collingswood, NJ.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force staked out the apartment and waited for the suspect to emerge. When the suspect exited the residence, members of the task force surrounded him. At that point, the suspect allegedly ignored police instructions to surrender and instead tried to run away.
Police chased the suspect for several blocks while he jumped fences and ran through backyards. Police eventually discovered the suspect hiding behind a shed.
When police arrested the suspect, they allegedly found him in possession of a loaded semi-automatic 9mm Sig Sauer handgun.
The suspect was charged with several crimes, including attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and resisting arrest.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was taken to the Camden County Jail. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of $1 million bail.
