Police recently arrested a man in connection with a non-fatal stabbing at a residence in Cherry Hill, NJ.
According to law enforcement, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. at a home located on the 300 block of Juniper Drive in Cherry Hill Township, New Jersey.
The Cherry Hill Township Police Department received a call about a stabbing incident. Police immediately dispatched officers to the scene. When police officers arrived in the area, they found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the hand. Investigators believe that the victim was stabbed in the hand by a sword.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he received medical treatment for his injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect was placed under arrest at the scene. At this time, authorities have not revealed whether the suspect has been charged with a criminal offense.
If the suspect is ultimately charged with aggravated assault or possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, he would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon such as a sword, knife, or handgun is considered a third degree felony. A conviction on third degree aggravated assault charges could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in NJ State Prison.
