Police are searching for two men who allegedly committed a robbery in Camden, New Jersey.
According to law enforcement, the theft happened shortly before 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of North Constitution Road and Hornet Road in Camden, NJ. The two suspects allegedly walked up to a man who had stopped his vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban with an NJ license plate.
The suspects then allegedly robbed the victim.
The victim later told police that the two suspects were holding black handguns when they approached him.
The victim reportedly handed over his wallet, cell phone, and car keys. The suspects then reportedly got into the victim’s car and drove away.
The victim contacted local police, which dispatched officers to the scene. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
The suspects have been described as two males who were wearing dark clothing. One of the suspects was tall with a thin build, while the other suspect had a medium build.
If police do eventually identify and capture the suspects, it is likely that the culprits would face serious criminal charges for armed robbery and carjacking. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-2, carjacking is a first degree crime. A conviction for first degree carjacking could result in a sentence of 10-30 years in NJ State Prison.
