Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly committed a violent robbery on a street in Camden, New Jersey.
The theft incident reportedly occurred on May 29 at the corner of 24th Street and Carman Street in Camden, NJ. The Camden County Police Department received a call about the robbery around 3 a.m.
Police officers were quickly dispatched to the area. When the officers got to the scene, they spoke with the female victim. According to the victim, the suspect walked up to her on the street and demanded that she hand over cash.
At some point during the encounter, the suspect allegedly hit the victim. He then reportedly fled the scene on foot.
Camden NJ police investigated the assault and were able to obtain video surveillance footage that shows the suspect.
Police recently released a description of the suspect in the hopes that someone might be able to identify him. The suspect is described as a black male with a chinstrap beard. When the suspect allegedly committed the theft, he was wearing a white collared shirt, dark-colored pants, and white Puma sneakers.
If the suspect is eventually apprehended, he would likely face criminal charges for robbery and aggravated assault. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1, anyone who commits a robbery while inflicting serious bodily injury on the victim can be charged with a first degree felony. A conviction for first degree robbery could lead to a sentence of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.
