A man from Sicklerville was arrested in connection to a robbery earlier this week.
The incident took place in Camden when the man, Primitivo Ferrer, allegedly approached the victim of the robbery on Broadway and Jackson Street and threatened the him with a knife, attempting to rob him. Ferrer then ran away from the scene on foot. A Camden Police Officer responded shortly after the incident and allegedly found the suspect running near where the robbery took place. The officer stopped Ferrer, found two folding knives on his person, and arrested him.
Ferrer was arrested and charged with armed robbery as a result of the incident. Robbery is normally a second degree crime in New Jersey punishable by 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison. In this case, however, Ferrer allegedly threatened the victim with a knife, a deadly weapon, meaning the charge is upgraded to a first degree crime. A conviction in this case will result in 10 to 20 years in State Prison with a presumption of incarceration. Further, this crime is included under New Jersey’s “No Early Release Act” meaning that 85 percent of the sentence would have to be served before parole eligibility.
