Camden County NJ police arrested four people in connection with a homicide in Camden, New Jersey.
According to Camden County prosecutors, the four suspects were involved in the fatal shooting of a Camden NJ man, in addition to two non-fatal shootings in Camden, NJ.
The fatal shooting was allegedly precipitated by a robbery attempt, with one of the suspects using a gun to shoot, and kill, the victim.
The Camden County Police Department’s ShotSpotter system was triggered around 1:32 a.m. Camden County police officers were subsequently dispatched to the 3500 block of Pierce Street, where they encountered the victim, 19-year-old male who lived in Camden and who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was rushed to nearby Cooper Hospital to be treated for his gunshot-related injuries. Tragically, doctors at the medical facility could not save the victim; he was pronounced dead just 15 minutes after arriving at the hospital.
The Camden County Police Department and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office collaborated on an investigation into the shooting and soon identified the suspects.
All of the suspects are said to be under the age of 20. The suspects include an 18-year-old Camden man, two 19-year-old Pennsauken NJ men, and a 16-year-old who resides in Merchantville, NJ.
The four suspects have been charged with first degree murder and face life imprisonment in NJ State Prison if they are convicted.
Camden County law enforcement has reportedly connected the suspects to at least two other shootings in Camden on the same night as the murder. One of those non-fatal shootings allegedly involved a shotgun being fired into a parked car, while the other non-fatal shooting reportedly involved an armed robbery of a pedestrian. As a result, the suspects could face additional criminal charges.
