A Willingboro New Jersey man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Camden NJ is being investigated for several other sexual assaults in Mercer County.
According to law enforcement, the suspect committed the violent sex crime on November 27, 2016. The victim was walking along the 900 block of South 3rd Street in Camden NJ when the suspect allegedly drove past her in a white van. The suspect reportedly stopped the van, got out of the vehicle, and forced the victim to go to a lot located next to an empty building.
After the attack, the victim contacted local police and reported the sex crime. Camden County detectives conducted an investigation and soon identified the suspect as the likely culprit.
When police officers went to the suspect’s home in Willingboro and attempted to execute a search warrant, the suspect allegedly assaulted the officers and tried to attack them with a knife.
The suspect is a 29-year-old man from Willingboro, New Jersey. He already faces criminal charges for sexual assault, kidnapping, and attempted murder in connection with the alleged attack in Camden, NJ. He has also been charged with aggravated assault because of his alleged actions against law enforcement prior to being placed under arrest.
Now the suspect could face additional charges for unsolved sexual assault cases in Trenton and elsewhere in Mercer County, New Jersey. Those earlier sex crimes reportedly occurred a number of months ago.
According to authorities, the suspect has prior convictions out of Camden County for sexual assault and aggravated assault.
After being arrested for the latest alleged sexual assault, the suspect was remanded to the Camden County Jail in Camden, NJ. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of $2 million bail.
