Camden Police have arrested a man who allegedly was in possession of an illegal handgun.
The arrest was made as a result of a burglary investigation that took place last week on the 400 block of Broadway. During the investigation, police allegedly found the suspect, Kevin Coates, in possession of a loaded handgun and subsequently arrested him. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, burglary, and theft. His bail was set at $750,000.
The unlawful possession of a weapon is a second degree crime that can result in 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison if convicted. The burglary charges can result in 5 to 10 years as well if he was armed with a weapon at the time of the burglary.
