Camden NJ police and federal authorities recently arrested a man accused of possessing a loaded gun and a large quantity of drugs in Camden, New Jersey.
The arrest was made by members of several different agencies, including detectives with the Camden County Police Department, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Counter Gang Unit, and members of the New Jersey state parole board.
Authorities were conducting parole violation investigations at Ivy Hill apartments in Camden, New Jersey. At one point, police decided to pay a visit to the 33-year-old suspect’s residence on Morton Street.
Detectives allegedly discovered the suspect in possession of a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun. Police also allegedly found the suspect with a large quantity of crack cocaine, a large amount of marijuana, and drug packaging materials. Additionally, police reportedly seized almost $2,000 in cash from the suspect.
After being placed under arrest, the suspect was charged with a number of criminal offenses. Among the most serious charges faced by the suspect are unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons weapons offense, distribution of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, distribution of marijuana, and possession of marijuana. As a result, the suspect has also been accused of violating parole.
Authorities said that the suspect has a prior criminal record stemming from a conviction for drug distribution.
Shortly after being charged, the suspect was transported to the Camden County Jail. He is being held at the facility in lieu of $342,500 bail.
