Camden New Jersey police busted two men for allegedly promoting prostitution at a brothel located in the area.
According to law enforcement, Camden NJ police got a number of alerts from concerned residents about a “possible house of prostitution” in Camden, NJ. The alleged brothel is located in the Dudley section of Camden, somewhere on the 100 block of North 25th Street.
Camden County Prosecutor’s Office detectives conducted an investigation that included surveillance of the house. After several weeks of surveillance, investigators finally had enough evidence to obtain a search warrant.
During a subsequent search of the house, detectives reportedly found two New York City women who were working as prostitutes at the alleged brothel. The Camden County Prosecutor’s elected not to charge the women with prostitution; instead, they were provided with assistance from a nonprofit group that helps victims of human trafficking and prostitution.
Camden NJ police arrested two men at the alleged brother: a 39-year-old from Camden and a 39-year-old from NYC. Both suspects were charged with third degree promoting prostitution.
If the suspects are ultimately convicted of promoting prostitution in accordance with N.J.S.A. 2C:34-1, they could face 3-5 years in NJ State Prison.
Moreover, authorities said that the men are illegal immigrants. As such, they could be subject to deportation when the case concludes and they have served any sentences.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspects were transported to the Camden County Jail. They were being held at the correctional facility on separate $125,000 bail amounts.
