Police recently arrested a Camden New Jersey man wanted in connection with a near-fatal shooting in January.
The 31-year-old suspect allegedly committed the shooting on the 1000 block of Mechanic Street in Camden, NJ.
A Camden County NJ police officer was on patrol in Camden when he saw the suspect behind the wheel of a gray Chevrolet Monte Carlo and driving on Kaighn Avenue. The patrol officer pulled over the suspect at the corner of West Street and Royden Street.
The suspect was then arrested without incident.
The suspect has been charged with attempted murder. He also faces a number of other criminal charges related to the shooting, including aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain persons not to have a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Moreover, the suspect has also been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle because the arresting officer allegedly found ecstasy in the suspect’s vehicle.
According to officials, the certain persons offense charge stems from a prior drug distribution conviction on the suspect’s record.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was transported to the Camden County Jail. He is being held at the facility in lieu of a bail amount totaling nearly $2 million.
