Gloucester Township police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stole an iPhone from a customer at a local store earlier this year.
According to authorities, the female suspect walked into a Dollar Tree store on June 11 and took someone’s personal iPhone.
After the theft, store employees notified the Gloucester Township Police Department. Gloucester police investigated the theft incident but were unable to identify the suspect.
Now law enforcement has released video surveillance footage of the theft in the hopes that someone will come forward with additional information about the suspect.
The footage, taken from inside the store on the day of the theft, shows the suspect wearing blue medical scrubs.
The suspect walked toward the check-out register at the precise moment that a customer was paying for an item. While the customer paid, she placed her iPhone on the conveyor belt. The suspect then put white construction paper over the phone and slipped the concealed phone into her pocketbook.
After making her own purchase at the cash register, the suspect walked out of the store.
If Gloucester Township police are eventually able to identify and apprehend the suspect, she would likely face serious criminal charges for theft of movable property.
Anyone with information about the alleged theft or the suspect is asked to contact Gloucester Township investigators at 856-228-4500.
