A woman who worked at a hotel in Mount Laurel NJ allegedly stole $2,000 from a hotel safe.
According to authorities, the suspect worked at a hotel located on Diemer Drive in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Although officials have not yet revealed the exact hotel that was robbed, there are two hotels located on Diemer Drive off Route 73 in Mt. Laurel: the Extended Stay America and the Hyatt House.
Another employee at the hotel reportedly noticed that $2K in cash was missing from the safe, so he notified his boss and then contacted local law enforcement.
The Mount Laurel Police Department conducted an investigation into the alleged theft and eventually determined that the suspect was the likely culprit. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest.
The suspect, a 42-year-old woman who lives in Cherry Hill, NJ, faces criminal charges for theft of movable property.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the very serious theft charges, she would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3, anyone who steals more than $500 can be charged with a third degree felony. A conviction for third degree theft of movable property could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was moved to the Camden County Jail in Camden, NJ. She later secured her release from the correctional facility by posting a $10,000 bail amount.
