Police apprehended a Pine Hill NJ man who was allegedly driving a stolen car and attempting to elude police officers.
A Pine Hill New Jersey patrol officer was driving on West Branch Avenue when he saw a suspicious vehicle exiting the Chalet Garden apartment complex. Police later learned that the vehicle had been stolen in Philadelphia earlier the same day.
The officer tried to pull over the car, but the suspect allegedly drove away and eluded police. The chase continued into Gloucester Township, where the suspect jumped from the car while it was still moving.
The moving vehicle eventually crashed into a lamp post in front of a house.
Once the suspect was out of the vehicle, he reportedly ran into a nearby wooded area.
Pine Hill police, along with officers from Clementon and Gloucester Township, canvassed the area and searched for the suspect.
Police officers used a thermal imaging camera to locate the suspect, who was hiding in the wooded area. The suspect reportedly ignored a police officer’s commands to get on the ground and instead attempted to flee the area on foot. However, police officers were able to track him down and place him under arrest.
The suspect, who resides on East 10th Avenue in Pine Hill, New Jersey, has been charged with receiving stolen property, eluding police, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice. Additionally, the suspect has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia because police allegedly found him in possession of illegal drug-related items.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility. He is being held at the jail in lieu of $85,000 bail.
According to law enforcement, the suspect was already wanted on criminal charges out of municipal courts in Pine Hill and Gloucester Township.
