Police recently arrested two people who allegedly had crack cocaine in their vehicle while driving in Evesham Township, NJ.
A police officer with the Evesham Township Police Department was on patrol when he observed two individuals acting suspiciously in a vehicle. The patrol officer pulled over the car on Route 73 and investigated further.
While the officer spoke with the driver and passenger, other Evesham officers arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation. Additionally, Spike, a police K-9, was also brought to the scene in order to determine whether illegal narcotics were in the suspects’ vehicle.
Spike reportedly sniffed out the drugs and alerted police officers to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle by police allegedly turned up crack cocaine, as well as drug paraphernalia.
Both the driver and the passenger were placed under arrest without incident.
The driver has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs (DUI) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Meanwhile, the passenger has been charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia
Both suspects are from Buena, New Jersey.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspects were taken to the Burlington County Jail. They are being held at the correctional facility on unrelated warrants.
