The Clementon Police Department has issued a warning to local residents: anyone leaving their home unlocked risks being victimized by burglars.
Several Clementon residents have returned to their homes in recent weeks only to find out that they were the victims of break-ins. And at least one Clementon NJ resident was reportedly burglarized while she slept inside the residence.
Most of the recent burglaries have involved homes located in Clementon, with one of the burglary incidents occurring in nearby Lindenwold, New Jersey. The main targets of the burglars have been homes located just north of the White Horse Pike in Clementon NJ.
According to law enforcement, the burglaries were likely committed by the same individuals because similar techniques were used in all of the break-ins. For instance, the burglars typically force their way inside the residence by smashing windows or opening doors. Additionally, the suspects usually steal cash, jewelry, and small electronics. Moreover, the suspects reportedly avoid leaving fingerprints at the crime scenes because they were latex gloves while committing the break-ins.
Clementon detectives have not yet been able to identify any suspects in connection with the burglary spree. An eyewitness did come forward to report seeing a young, white male in the area when one of the burglaries occurred. On another occasion, a homeowner confronted one of the burglars, but he was unable to identify the suspect later on.
Any local residents who have witnessed suspicious individuals in the area are asked to contact Clementon NJ police at 856-783-4900.
