Gloucester Township police arrested a Pine Hill NJ man accused of burglarizing a local business and stealing items from the store’s safe.
According to law enforcement, the theft incident occurred on January 17, 2016. The suspect allegedly broke into United Supply Company, located at the VPR Commerce Center on Lower Landing Road in Gloucester Township, New Jersey.
The Gloucester Township Police Department received a report of the burglary and immediately began an investigation. Workers at the burglarized business told police that someone stole the store safe, as well as a generator and plumbing supplies.
Investigators also learned that the suspect may have attempted to burglarize other nearby businesses, including trailers located in the parking lot of the Gloucester Township complex.
In the hopes of spurring the investigation, police released video surveillance footage from the night of the theft.
Police eventually identified the suspect, a 29-year-old male who lives on Jackson Avenue in Pine Hill NJ, as the culprit in the burglary.
The suspect was arrested without incident and charged with multiple crimes, including burglary, theft of movable property, and criminal mischief.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the most serious charges of burglary, he would be in store for significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2, burglary is typically classified as a third degree felony and carries a potential penalty of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Camden County Jail. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a $20K bail amount.
